  1. The anniversary of the Boston Marathon Bombing will be similar to that of the first year anniversary of 9/11. It won't be as big and known all over like 9/11 was, but I feel as if many people will be looking back and reflecting on that day. The anniversary will be all over the news and will be a sad day for people from all over.

    1. Just a thought to your statement that this bombing will not garner as much attention as 9-11.. While that may be true on a larger scale, I think that for the families affected directly, it is just as big if not bigger to them than September 11th. I do not mean to belittle or dismiss the tragedy that happened on either day, but in general it is difficult for people to empathize with those whom they do not know personally over those they are close to. It is for that reason that continuing to remember and memorialize these events every year is important to remind everyone of the sadness on those days, but also the strength, hope and support we can find in others all around us.

  2. It will be a tough day for the North East, just like with the elementary anniversary. It will bring communities closer together, and even those from around the world. Its just a horrible thing, and makes you wonder about the people in this world, and what has happened to the days when people were 1 and everyone was friendly, no matter what race.

    1. Agreed, events like the Boston Marathon, the school shootings, the movie theatre shootings, etc. all make one think about society and how or why something like these crazy incidents can occur. And as you said, events like this make a person wonder about the people in this world and what it is that would trigger them to do something so unusual. Like any anniversary of a big (or small) event, I believe that communities definitely become closer and help one another in the healing process.

  3. The anniversary is definitely a difficult time for everyone. What I saw on the news though is that a backpack was left unattended near the finish line area yesterday and it is hard to think that on such a sad day someone would do such a thing.

    1. Agreed, as if there wasn't enough reminders of what happened last year and perhaps having some fear that it would happen again, but that another backpack or two show up this year. Really sad.

  4. I think that this is a difficult time for everyone. But when it comes to remembering events such as these, I think that we should not do it at all. It gives the people exactly what they wanted from the tragedy: fear. Every time we remember an event like this the tourist succeed in their mission.

  5. Thinking about the Boston Marathon bombing that happened this time last year really makes me realize how fragile life can be. It makes me think about what was going through the minds of the people who were running in the marathon or even just attending it. The people who were running had likely been training for months leading up to the event. They were probably thinking about how the race was going to go, not the possibility of a terrorist bombing the city. The spectators of the race were also likely more worried about supporting the runners than not being hurt by a bomb. This shows how fragile life can be and tragic things like this can happen so quickly.

  6. The Boston Marathon bombings was a very tragic time for our nation. Its a scary to think that individuals could do this to other human beings. When we look back on these events I do think that it brings the community together and shows a good side to human nature. People are always going to be looking out for each other and I think that is a comforting thing.

  7. Thinking about the Boston Marathon bombing that happened a year ago is just a crazy thought. I guess i have not thought much about it because it did not directly affect me or my family but it was a very sad and traumatic event. I can not even imagine what the family members of those lost are feeling around this time of the year. It is very scary and sad to think people are so heartless to take a persons life. These events, like many others, have brought not only Bostons community together but many others as well. It is sad people constantly have to look over their backs but it is also good because everyone does in a way look out for each other.
